University of Nebraska-Lincoln Outdoor Adventures Center

Lincoln,

United States

The Outdoor Adventures Center, located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, now stands out to passerby thanks to the addition of ProPoint Linear from Traxon e:cue.

The Outdoor Adventures Center located on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus is designed to provide outdoor adventure experiences in many forms. It enhances learning while also providing escape and enjoyment to students, staff and faculty alike.

Originally opened in May of 2014, the center includes climbing and bouldering walls, a bike shop with rentals, lockers, tours and repairs available, as well as classroom space, and other outdoor adventure excursions. And, while the center has been operating successfully, Campus Recreation deemed it necessary to install additional lighting with the hopes of drawing more attention to the building and enhancing the visitor experience.

Therefore, the team at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln partnered with lighting designer, Michael McMindes, and manufacturer, Traxon e:cue to find a solution, and together a dynamically effective solution was selected. Traxon’s ProPoint™ Linear HO RGBW, at a 35° angle, was installed on the interior of the building, accentuating the architectural façade and specialized rock features of the building.

As a result of the installation, interior rock wall surfaces are now lit with color-changing fixtures that draw attention to the building and can be changed to match campus and recreation events, as well as university team colors.
